About Visual Codec

Visual Codec™, is a monthly Visual Arts publication that marks the manifestation of a vision we think worthy of consistent effort and attention: A publication focused solely on sustained coverage of the vibrant contemporary visual arts scenes showcased by three pivotal Pacific Coast cities, namely Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Washington, and Vancouver, British Columbia.

It is our sincere hope that Visual Codec's coverage of these correlative meccas on an ongoing scale will, issue by issue, unearth and decode our shared visual vernacular, one that stretches across a mere five or six hours of interstate.

It is also our hope that this publication will further encourage the cross-pollination of artistic communities throughout the region, as well as serve as a sort of regional baedeker for the visual arts community at large.

To quote our founding editor, m., "I realized I wasn't the only one who perceived a crucial gap in coverage of the visual arts in our region. There was a palpable ache for a publication focused specifically on the Visual Arts breakthroughs and trends that are surfacing from Vancouver to Portland and back again. Visual Codec aims to fill that gap."

Ambitious? Maybe. Necessary? Absolutely.
